August 2008 Power of Girls Recap

I have really enjoyed spending my summer with the Atlanta Dream. The best outing I think we took with the Atlanta Dream players was to Stone Mountain. Jennifer Lacy, Ivory Latta, and Kristin Haynie were the Dream players that attended. The players were very interactive with the mentoring program. We did the 4-D movie, the sky lift, the barn yard and the ducks. We also ate lunch with the players. The funniest part of the trip was the look on Ivory's face when the snake popped out of the screen of the 4-D movie. Kristin was too scared to ride on the skylift, so she stayed down on the ground with Sarah. Jenn got lost while driving through the park but Ms. Tameka got her to the parking lot of Stone Mountain. I had so much fun on this outing with the mentoring program and the Atlanta Dream players.

When the Power of Girls Mentoring Program went to Dave and Busters, it was so much fun. We had dinner with the players and got to play games with them. I had Kasha Terry at my dining table when we ate dinner, and it was so much fun getting to know her and just talking to her. I also shot hoops with Betty Lennix, as we tried to win tickets. It was so much fun. Getting to be around the players and getting to see their personalities off the court was interesting. Most people would just judge them by the way they see them on the court, but they seem to be totally different people off the court. Thanks to Ms. Tameka Garrett I had the opportunity to take part in this wonderful experience.
