Teasley Takes "Time-Out" For Reading

ATLANTA, October 10, 2008-- Atlanta Dream point guard Nikki Teasley has been out in the community this month promoting the league-wide “Read to Achieve” initiative. Teasley took part in the third annual “Read for the Record” event sponsored by Jumpstart for Reading. Thousands of adults and children all over the country participated in the event, reading Corduroy by Don Freeman. Atlanta was one of 12 cities to participate in this event.

Teasley also brought the “Read to Achieve” campaign to Renaissance Elementary, where she read with children in the afterschool program. The book of choice was Allie’s Basketball Dream by Barbara Barber. As part of the Dream’s “Read to Achieve” campaign in schools, participants were awarded Dream bookmarks, pencils and a free ticket to a 2009 Atlanta Dream home game.
