Sun Waive Tamika Whitmore
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (April 15, 2010) — The Connecticut Sun announced today it has waived veteran forward Tamika Whitmore.
“We thought this was the best course for both Tamika and the Connecticut Sun,” Vice President and General Manager Chris Sienko said. “Doing this now gives Tamika the best opportunity to find a spot on another team. We thank her for all of her contributions to the team, and wish her well.”
Acquired from the Indiana Fever in exchange for Katie Douglas on February 19, 2008, the 6-foot-2 Whitmore played 58 games for the Sun with 34 starts. She averaged 9.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game with Connecticut. The 32-year-old Whitmore was hampered by a knee injury last season, missing 10 games in the middle of the year
